Privacy Policy

What we collect

rec4 collects minimal data needed to provide the service:

• Account information — your email address, used for authentication via magic link sign-in. We do not store passwords.
• Video files — stored on Cloudflare R2 when you choose to upload. Videos are only accessible via your unique share link or according to your chosen visibility settings.
• Recording metadata — when you share a recording, technical metadata (window positions, cursor coordinates, interaction timestamps) is uploaded alongside the video layers to enable playback rendering. This metadata does not include the content of what you typed or the text inside UI elements.
• View counts — anonymous aggregate counts for your videos.

What we don't collect

• Anonymous analytics — we use PostHog to collect anonymous usage data (page views, clicks) on the website. The desktop app asks for consent on first launch. No personal data is collected.
• No screen recording data leaves your device unless you explicitly share or upload it

Third-party services

rec4 integrates with the following third-party services to provide specific features. Data is only sent to these services when you explicitly use the corresponding feature:

• AI voiceover — Anthropic — when you use the AI script enhancement or speech classification features, your transcript text and surrounding context segments are sent to the Anthropic (Claude) API for processing. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
• AI voiceover — ElevenLabs — when you generate AI voiceover audio, the script text for each segment is sent to the ElevenLabs text-to-speech API. See ElevenLabs' privacy policy.
• Authentication — Supabase — email-based authentication (magic links) is handled by Supabase Auth. Your email address is stored by Supabase for sign-in purposes. See Supabase's privacy policy.
• Payments — LemonSqueezy — subscription billing and payment processing is handled by LemonSqueezy. Payment details (card information) are stored by LemonSqueezy, not by rec4. See LemonSqueezy's privacy policy.
• Analytics — PostHog — anonymous usage analytics with no personal data. See PostHog's privacy policy.

Data storage

All data is stored on Cloudflare's global network (D1 for metadata, R2 for video files). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Data deletion

You can delete any video at any time from your dashboard. Deleted videos are immediately removed from storage. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at the email below.
